Rear bumper has turned yellowish!

Last week I took my car for a hard run to Terenganu and back two days later. I noticed my rear bumper is now a little yellowish from the exhaust heat. My car is Ivory white. I had decatted the exhaust system. Damm frust lah! Dunno what to do. If respray sure again will turn yellowish. :(

Any other members experienced this? I think the white cars are likeliest to have this problem.

Hi Tee,

i always have tht on my white 34 everytime travelling long. Wht i do is to send to any car wash center and tell them to wash it off. They do have stronger agent to clean it up. And for my case it wasnt the heat, but the carbon stain. I'm sure you're just having the same ;)

I thought the same thing as was the case with my white Scoobie. But the car detailer (Carnauba at Glenmarie) could not get the stain off :( The blackish carbon got removed but the slightly yellow color across the entire bumper remained. I will try my favorite painter shop. They may have the proper chemical. Thanks!

Firstly, Welcome Tee! :)

With regards to your problem, all white cars have it!

Carbon stains + yellowish crap. ... what i've done is to put a black sticker (RM30 only) on top of the exhaust place on both sides.

I also did a Threebond Ultra Glass Coating NEO application on my car. Since installation, my rear bumper can be easily cleaned without using abraisive chemicals or wax/polish! (used to wax/polish the car once every 3 days!!)

I'd recommend the sticker for a start. If you're interested in doing the Glass Coating, PM me and I can sort you out!

It costs approx RM2.5-3k for a GTR. Warranty is 2 years.

oh ya, forgot to tell you Azri. The RM30 black sticker makes your car looks "Lambo-ish" from the back :D

Thank you dkrm. Yes I have decated the downpipe too. I get a bit of flames from the exhaust when I accelerate hard to redline and when it changes to the next gear. Worth the yellowish bumper I guess. hahaha

I read in other forum somewhere that if you use highflow catted downpipe and Y pipe you can reduce the smog without having to pay heavy hp penalty. I think the guy was using AMS downpipe.

I have NO personal experience using highflow catted downpipe, though

Shy lah to show my brown butt! hahaha! My car's rear end is now not so yellowish after all the polishing at the detailers Carnauba in Glenmarie. It is now slightly off color to the rest of the car. acceptable. ... or maybe because am driving slower nowadays :o
