HOUSTON 2009 FALL EVENT -- Sunday, November 1

This is the make-up for the rained-out meet of October 4

The next Houston Group GTR event will be held in The Woodlands on Sunday, November 1, 10:00 am - noon.

THE WOODLANDS CAR CLUB will host a "CHANGE FOR CHARITIES" car meet on Sunday, November. We will be meeting at MARKET STREET - THE WOODLANDS, between Jasper's and Cinemark theater.

The Houston area GTR group has been invited to be a major part of this endeavor. We have been asked if we can have 20+ GTRs there. (Of course I said yes)

BACKGROUND: The purpose behind the meet is to provide a gathering to show off our special vehicles, share information about needful non-profit organizations in Montgomery County, and to give back monetarily, as well. TWCC will be collecting coins/change for a donation to the Market Street "Change for Charities" program that will benefit non-profit organizations in Montgomery County. The four recipients for 2009 are: American Cancer Society Relay for Life, Habitat for Humanity, Montgomery County Food Bank, and Children's Safe Harbor.

All participants will be asked to sign-in, DONATE SOME POCKET CHANGE, and of course, have a good time.

They will secure an area for us on the square; I need to give them a final count as to how many places to reserve by Wednesday, October 28. I will be sending Personal Messages out each week to everyone who has not responded. PLEASE LET ME KNOW NOW!

This is a great opportunity to be a big part of a very worthwhile program. Book it now and let me know your yes/no status.

Jim (Mattress Mack) McIngvale and GALLERY FURNITURE have offered their parking lot for us to use on Sunday morning, November 1. Anyone who wishes to gather there for a group drive to The Woodlands' event please arrive by 9:15; we will leave in convoy at 9:20. This will be good for the League City group and Houston, Sugar Land, and anyone south of 610 north.

Gallery Furniture is located at 6006 North Freeway (45), exit 55A -- Parker/Yale exit.

This is very nice of them.

Directions, meet-up and map info -- for next Sunday, November 1:

Go to MAPQUEST and input: <9595 Six Pines Dr # 8200 The Woodlands, Texas 77380>

OR

meet up with many of us at GALLERY FURNITURE at 9:15 am (see previous post).

OR

NORTH BOUND FROM HOUSTON:

1. I-45 North to EXIT 76 B (Woodlands Parkway). It takes longer than you think.

2. Follow Woodlands Pky to the 2nd stoplight which is SIX PINES. Turn right on SIX PINES.

3. Follow SIX PINES to the 2nd stoplight which is MALL RING. Turn left. You are now on Market Street.

4. In about 1.5 blocks you will be staring at the front door of the Tommy Bahama's store. Turn right and IMMEDIATELY TURN LEFT. You are now on the square.

5. Come around the square to the theater (Cinemark) side for the GTR parking area.


SOUTH BOUND FROM TRINITY AND DALLAS:

1. I-45 South to EXIT 77 (Research Forest Drive). Research Forest Drive is .8 mile down the service road on the right. Turn right onto Research Forest Drive.

2. Continue .3 mile to SIX PINES. 3 stoplights. Turn left on SIX PINES.

3. Proceed .8 mile (2 stoplights) on SIX PINES to MARKET STREET entrance on your right. Turn right.

4. In about 1.5 blocks you will be staring at the front door of the Tommy Bahama's store. Turn right and IMMEDIATELY TURN LEFT. You are now on the square.

5. Come around the square to the theater (Cinemark) side for the GTR parking area.

November GTR meet --- update: CONGRATULATIONS HOUSTON GROUP

13 GTRs made for a record setting day at The Woodlands today. Set in a wonderful fall weather day, the 13 GTRs were accompanied by some beautiful 350Zs including Robert_K's BLACK and the BLUE beauty driven by Ash. Great pictures were taken by Jennifer and Chad and will be made available later. And the charities this event supported gained some additional donations which will be distributed in December.
