My RR Wheel/tyre started to make a funny rotational noise. The noise would be more frequent as the speed of the car increases. It was very apparent when I drove it on second gear at approx 25km/h.
At first I thought it was the brakes, went for cleaning but the noise was still there.. I even checked the FR wheels.
After a few more checks, we determined that it was the tyre rubbing against the rim. However, we didn't 100% confirm that this was the case.
After a week and a half, I decided to go to Pirelli and get the tire checked out. We opened it and Lo and Behold, a crack formed on the inside! (not visible from the outside).
CRACK ON BRIDGESTONE POTENZA : http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=304194&id=767895467&l=4b15fad7e6
Bear in mind that I already ordered my Pirelli P Zero a few months ago. However, the tyres were taking way too long to come. Since the Bridgestones were not roadworthy, Pirelli managed to make an urgent order.
2 days later, (today), the tyres arrived from the Hong Kong.
costs RM14,000 including shipping (by air) :-/
See here for the new Pirelli Pics: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=305160&id=767895467&l=058d3abbdc
On the drive back, I could notice a 10 fold improvement in smoothness compared to the old bridgestones. The noise is gone too!
Upon inspecting the other 3 tyres, there were early signs of possible cracking (white lines).
I have yet to burn some rubber... maybe tomorrow after i get a few hundred KMs on the new tyre to wear the protective layer off!
:) I'll update you guys on how these pirellis go.
