Rolling Midnight Photo Shoot

Thanks for everyone attending the last photo shoot in Lenox. Those shots were taken the day after I got the camera. I have learned more about the settings on it since then.

You know what they say right?

"Practice, practice, practice," and, "location, location, location."

Those last shots turned out really bad. Only five were any good. None were epic.

So, this time I want to get us in a rolling shot.

It was suggested that our cars were "caged lions" at the Lenox shoot. They needed to be let out on the road and captured in their natural habitat.

Robert suggested the runway under Hartsfield Jackson airport. Sounds good to me as for a date:

Here are the options:

Friday midnight (1/16, 1/23)
Saturday midnight (1/17, 1/24)


To make the shot more interesting, I will invite members of WRXAtlanta and VWVortex . They have a some excellent digital camera guys who can help out with the shots.

If the weather is good, some of us can head into downtown (ghost town) Atlanta for a few more rolling shots.

This weekend is very bad. WSB's website says it will rain on both Friday and Saturday. We will aim for next weekend.

IF IT DOES NOT RAIN, the Rolling Midnight photo shoot is set for Friday night (Jan. 30th, 2009). We will begin to meet up between 10:30 PM and 11 PM in Marietta at Ege Sushi. (2100 Roswell Road, Suite f100, Marietta, GA 30062)

Our route will take us down I75 into downtown Atlanta, where we can exit and continue onto the streets of Atlanta. We can get back onto I85 and continue on to the airport. After the airport we can disperse.

The airport and downtown area are two key shooting locations.

The airport shot will take place in the tunnel under the runway.
The downtown shot will take place at street level.

Originally, I wanted to shoot at the airport first, then shoot in downtown. But, I was not sure when I could get down there. However, I guarantee that I will be in Marietta at 10:30 PM.

Shooting will take place on the drive down. It is best if all the cars in the group stay grouped together in different lanes, but do not block other traffic.

We will select designated photo cars. If some of you know any S2000s or Miatas that could hold a photographer, please bring them.

Barring acts of God (or other imaginary friends) or the gf, I'm in. Will there be someone shooting the pics of us, or are we going to take some turns doing it ourselves? I wouldn't mind giving my new 5D Mark II a test at night.

If you want to shoot photos, I recommend you to bring either someone to drive your car or someone who can take shots for you. The reason is, we will have a bunch of S2000 and Miatas to shoot from, but just not enough people with digital SLR experience.

My thinking is that I will let my significant other (Samantha the destroyer of car fenders) drive my GTR and I will shoot from the side of the street... OR she will be left on the side of the road to shoot...

I would rather shoot pictures though.

My gf is scared to death of the car, so I'll see about getting her to take the shots. I'll bring along my monopod and/or tripod for street shots.

Hey guys, I am new to this post and have not met any of you. I live off of North Druid Hills and I believe I had the first Super Silver GTR in Atlanta (I took delivery in August of last year). I would love to meet up with all of you this Friday for the photo shoot.

I have a good friend in town that has an extreme amount of photography experience and will be a good asset to the group. I'm not sure what camera he shoots with but I know he has somewhere around $10K invested in photo equipment. He is pumped about the photo shoot and will be along with me to shoot all the cars in the group!

We will be going to the Atlanta Hawks game that night which starts at 7:30 and should end around 10:00. I need someone's cell number to call so that we can meet up with the group.

I look forward to meeting everyone. Feel free to give me a call on my cell if anyone has any info of when/where we can meet up.

I am guessing that there will be at least five GTRs that are showing up at the Kroger parking lot next to Ege Sushi.
Robert R35, Gregory R34, Mark R33, Shawn R35, Sharif/Sandy R35 and Samantha R35.

At the Varsity off i85, should be meeting up with two more:
Ryan R35 and Tom R35.

If we all show up, there will be 8 GTRs. This means we will match (in numbers of GTRs) the midnight photo shoot we did in December at Lenox mall.

remember the red GTR from the Lenox shoot? He just PMed me that he is interested in going. His car is already at ATL. So, he will meet us under the tunnels if he flies back in time.

I am new to the forum. I have a black/black in Brookhaven. I would like to make the shoot, but not sure if it will work out. Just for reference, what time is the meet up at the Varsity planned?

Yeah it was a bit of a gaggle, but I consider it to be a learning experience. I think it's pretty awesome that people took the time to organize it to begin with and all the people that showed up.
