For those interested in running the Tail of the Dragon, we are thinking of doing it on a Monday or Tuesday to avoid the police and weekend crowd.

Please reply if you are interested in joining.

If you do not have a GTR and want to join up, I have no problems with it. :)

Please let us know which dates are better for you.

For me, this has to be on a Monday or Tuesday or I cannot go. Any Monday or Tuesday in November is good for me.

Sounds good but the only Monday I could do would be Nov 17th, you guys may not want to wait that long (decreasing temps) :(

Nov 17th will work for me. The earlier in the day the better. There will be some traffic later in the day. Some motorcycles if it's not too cold. Also, there are now three groups taking pictures of riders and drivers. In the past this was on weekends only, however I recently saw them on a Tuesday at 2 pm.

Yea guys, be careful of those cold roads, as traction will be terrible and the banks are steep!

The forcast for Monday the 17th is a high of 62 and sunny. Looks very good!! What time are we leaving and from where? Thanks, Mark

I agree. Earlier is better. I have never been out there. How long does it take to get up there?

Might be able to make it out for this.

There are several ways to go. The fastest is north on I-575. (2 hours and 15 min). The fun way is north on GA 400 and go through Suches. 3 hours. I am up for either. We could go up on GA 400 and come back on I-575. Drive the Dragon in the morning, have lunch and then another run on the Dragon. Are we up to 4 GT-R's? I hope everyone can make it.

We can meet up at Best Buys across from Perimeter Mall at 9:30 or 10 AM.

I was thinking 7 am. However, I am flexible on the time. Best Buy is fine with me. What time is good for underpressure and fuguman?

7 is also OK with me.

underpressure: I am sure we can meet up there too.

Will anyone be bringing a camcorder with a vehicle mount?

I'm bummed that I can't join you guys. All of my vacation for this year is already spent or committed. Maybe a run when it warms up in the spring is in the cards.

Shawn, I wish you could make it. Just cough a lot and come along!

Tom and Mark, 7AM it is. See you guys at the Best Buys' parking lot on Monday. The one across from Perimeter mall.

The trouble is that we don't have sick time. PTO is PTO, and I'm out of it until Jan 1. I used up my major block by going to Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands.

For anyone planning to meet at the Dragon you can find details on Tailofthedragon.com. The Dragon is also known as Deals Gap. If you have not driven this road before it is considered the best driving road in North America. No stop signs, no traffic lights, no intersections, no driveways and if you get there early no traffic. 318 turns in 11 miles.
The town is Robbinsville, NC. The Dragon is north of Robbinsville, NC and extends across the Tennessee state line. The 3 GT-R's leaving Atlanta at 7 am will likely arrive about 10 am. Underpressure should have a similar commute time to the Dragon. If you show up much later we will likely be on the Dragon before and after lunch. Hope to see everyone. The weather forecast remains sunny.

Getting ready for he run. Jacking up the GTR and doing the oil change.

Fuguman
11-15-2008, 12:14 PM
Wish I could join you for the oil change, I will need to do mine soon.
By the way Quick Trip gas unfortunately does have the dreaded "may contain up to 10% ethanol" sticker. I was bummed when I saw it.

Terry what was the boost when on the Cobb AP run you did? TB

TODGTR
11-15-2008, 12:32 PM
My oil change was done at Capitol City on Wednesday. Only $108. Not bad for a supercar. Dealer oil changes for my last car were always $200.

Just had mine done on Tuesday for free as part of the 1k service. They also replaced my headlight that had the smudge inside. Turned out to be a real pain and took a long time. Got the DigiShield done as well for $700. Looks great.

How often are you changing oil? 3K? Suppose I should RTFM huh?

12 to 14 PSI...

The damn oil change took me 4 hours to do. Somebody messed up my bolts... I will replace them all later. Probably during my next oil change... Man that oil was black...

Hey Tere, for what it's worth when you were at the dyno, all the bolts that I pulled out were fine, so it had to have happened upon reinstallation or after that if they were messed with again. There were so many bolts that some of them may have been confused with others of different length/pitch when he was reinstalling the under tray. Please give me a shout with any questions!

totsubo
11-17-2008, 08:39 PM
No worries. I blame no one. Taking the bolts off does not damage them. Putting them back on... now that is another story. I will be replacing all the bolts. All of them have some thread damage. I am ordering a bag of 100... so no problems there.

Neil's shop worked solely on getting my car dynoed for over 5 hours. No way will I put any blame there either.

Back on topic. The run was...

GREAT!

I got video and pictures... TOM and MARK... You guys are madmen.

heheheh

I reviewed the videos already... They came out bad. I need a better video camera. I will work on that later.

The pictures I posted are the best ones. I will post all of them in a seperate link.

Also, Mark and Tom, the pictures posted above are EPIC in full resolution...

youtube doesnt make a good video look any good. so a bad video will turn out fine. a video is better than nothing also.

The dealer said 3750 miles, but I did it at 4500 miles. I forgot what the manual says...

I will be posting a PART2 to the video. It is better than my first video. SO be on the look out for it. Should be uploaded by tomorrow (2008-11-19) morning.
