Hello people.

I have read your threads about GTR in UAE and I am SO pleased to see that there are a good few R35 owners - awesome!

I would really value your help and advice. I am shortly moving to Abu Dhabi from the UK to start a new life. I have taken an exciting new job and can't wait. I move out on 6 November 2008.

I am a real petrol head and have raced motorbikes and owned a few cars also;). I have set my heart on a GTR and would welcome any advice you can offer in what is the best way to get one. Ideally I would like to get one via the official dealerships but I do not know what the situation is in the UAE. Certainly there are no dealers listed on the official web site. I have been looking and see there are a few for sale now - indeed even had a ride in one when I went to House of Cars in Dubai in September, but they want 520,000AED - which is £75k!!! Surely the GTR is not that expensive?? Is this price reasonable?

I do hope you can help me and when I get mine you shall certainly be seeing me!

Thank you in advance and look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes

Carl

Hi Carl,

I live in Dubai and the best price I've heard is from the dealer AED435,000. This is still way more than the $80,000 I've seen quoted in Middle East Auto magazines; and the dealer told me the price was going to increase AED30,000 next year!

Does anyone know if these high prices are still for the VVIP vehicles or if this really is the price in the UAE?

I appreciate some honest feedback.

Gary

Hi there,

You are correct. That is the price ( don't remind em how I know ) . These are for the VVIP vehicles. The ones with the Gold Trim. The official GCC vehicles should be released in February. Price will be more or less the same. I've actually heard something between 410-420. Those will be the regular ones though. Also there are some rumors of them being "de-tuned" .

Would you be interested in one ?

Thanks for the info. I am going to buy one, but not the de-tuned version. Still, I don't understand how the ME Auto mags got this so wrong. Since the car was unvieled in Feb's editions the price estimated was $70 - $80k, which is in line with the US. However, if you have one available I might be interested depending on price.

1198R - Thanks for the info. Several places in Dubai have been charging AED500k for us to have the privillage of getting one before they come into general release next March. Prices last i looked were down to AED435k at the dealer but that was 3+ weeks ago. I've been on vacation so will check in again on dealer prices.

When you bought from USA did the dealer increase the price from the local sticker price? Also did the dealer arange all the shipping? Finally is yours covered by warranty in the UAE?

Appreciate your comments...

Hey - LuckyEff - i'm good man. Abu is treating me fine. Latest on GTR is in Abu Nissan dealer offering warrantied GTR for 415,000AED including servicing up to 30k (i think). No mention of official launch. I went to car supermarket just outside of Dubai and found a new black GTR with grey leather interior (looked awesome) for 390,000AED - no warranty.

Still want one but still prepared to wait. Interestingly a brand new M3 from BMW Dubai has dropped from 395,000AED to 345,000AED - so hopefully GTR will follow suit

I just want to know about the official launch then I can make decision. Good things come to those who wait! :p

PM me if you fancy meeting up - i'd love to see the wheels!

Cheers

I bought mine from the Local Dealer in Abu Dhabi and its covered by the warranty. I also got a service contract till 40000 kms or 24000 miles. The official launch I heard will be in Feb~Mar @ a suggested price at AED 410,000 . But the reason i got mine now is you get access to the VVIP edition which is unmolested. They suspect the regular version might be detuned and we already have confirmed info on axing the Launch Control System. My advice , with all the issues with the GT-R i wouldn't buy one from an outside dealer or with no warranty. you never know how many times that thing was launched ....

After spending abnormal sums of money buying the VVIP version, S Zayed Road is like a military zone i.e 'we're watching you boys', Emirates seems to be going the same way, are there any roads left in which to enjoy this beautiful car at its full potential...outside the autodrome?

Thoughts?

He guys,

i am back from honeymoon, It seems that good GTR owners are in the GTR Club!!

It is the time to meet i this cool weather and tearing the tarmac of autodrome. Once I got my car durinf July, I took it there for a spin....man.....it feels good and you passin all cars on your way. It is fun to meet and chat with other car clubs and meeting friends to there is a track day at AutoDrome Dubai, where you bring your car and pay a fee and use your car to drive fast on the track with bunch of beginners and advanced drivers.

Check this link for schedule on this month and this year too.

Hi everyone,

After some years away from Godzilla, its time for me to come home! Thus I am currently wrapping up the sale of my current car and looking into buying a GTR.

However, I have come across this maze of buying a GTR over here, from Nissan or not (US or GCC??) or GCC/US spec from somewhere else. Some decisions I have made though are that the car must have warranty and be sub 1000 km's on the clock.

I am hoping some of you may be able to help me out with some thoughts, feedback etc on buying over here. Some pressing issues I have found is that Nissan will not sell extended warranties so I think that rules out shipping in my own unit from US. However they are still asking for around 400K for a US spec (not too mention the outrageous 450K for the GCC spec). Can anyone confirm if the GCC is de-tuned?

Anything further on the Sat Nav issue if one buys the US spec? Nissan Dubai have said nothing available yet, anyone have differing view?

Any and all help is most appreciated!

Many thanks,

Daniel.

u get warranty on american import now as Nissan ME threatened to strip the local dealers off their service franchise if they refused to cooperate....

american is cheaper and is actually the exact same as the dealership (latter is just a hoax premium, i was told this by the technician himself)... i have the gold trim (only difference is that, as a result, my interior doesnt match the exterior)

GTR is for versatile tuning capability anyway why do you care about warranty?!??

That's interesting news. I wonder who you would approach for that though? To you know anyone to contact?

True about the versatility of the GTR, that many JDM cars are manufactured with good tolerance to modifications and the GTR is no exception, however given the climate here and the extreme servicing costs/replacement parts prices it is far safer to have the warranty in effect on the car.
