View Full Version : Best Street Launch Technique?

I have no interest in trying the brutal "launch control" launches, but would be interested if anyone has found a compromise street launch technique.

I find that if I stomp on the gas at a light, the car hesitates before it hooks up the clutch, then the turbo needs time to spool up, so the whole process before reaching 3000 rpm and "really getting moving" is close to a second.

I have tried all the switch settings, but they all seem to give the same outcome. I also tried (hesitantly) doing a bit of "give it some gas while holding the brake" like an automatic, but that seems to make it bog down even more.

Your tricks/experiences would be welcome.

By the way, notwithstanding the sluggish launch off the line, according to my G-tech it can still do 0-60 mph in a bout 4.1 - 4.2 seconds using this street launch technique.
Thanks

what a coincidence i got a 4.1 on the Gtech aswell just stomping it with traction control in normal and full automode.

but yeah the car hesitates bad without L/C. also i wouldnt suggest "power braking" as it will overheat the transmisson. i had the best results in all R mode and then in manual mode just stomping it. i didnt have the Gtech at that moment but the hesitation was alot less.

I touch the gas a bit before so it engages and starts to roll, then slam it. Besides messing with LC a few times I've never used it since.

You GTR tech at your dealer should be able to adjust launch control RPM.

It seems to take off like a rocket if I'm rolling slightly already.. Im not sure of the technical differences from a complete stop but the car moves. Will have to measure with a timer and not the g since you'll be rolling already. Give it a try and see if its helps your time at all.

would brake boosting work?

its supposed to over heat the transmission. the manual goes on and on about not doing it

brake boosting or launch control?

Brake boosting made our non launch control 0-60 .5 seconds slower.
