Hi i was talking to a service department manager and he said that u have to pay a lot of money to maintain a GT-R. Like it costs $10,000 for a tune up which is supposed to be at 15,000 miles. And you cant take traction off whenever you like. If you race even on a street you will have to change some parts which costs $1000 dollars. Can anyone chime in and verify how much it costs to really maintain a GT-R. Thanks in advance

Hi. While the GT-R is a bit expensive on the maintenance, it's not quite that bad. Feel free to do some searching in the Tech section here on the forums, as I believe there is a thread about it.

I have a family member who owns a Ferrari and it does not cost them anywhere near 10k for a tune up, so I doubt a Nissan would cost anywhere near that. It probably won't be cheap, but I would be shocked it that is what it cost.

Well i am pretty sure that you dont have to change the brakes until like after 4 years depending on how much you use them. If you dont have to pay alot for some regular checks its cool. So other than tires and oil changes is it expensive?

Just had 1K service done today. Oil change was $171.83. Surprised that it wasn't taken care of by Nissan. I wanted to do Diff and Trans oil. Was told that the Trans oil is $90 a quart. And the trans holds 10 quarts give or take. Nissan doesn't require it at 1K, but I usually do on most of my cars to insure a good break in. I said no to that service. I don't know what they are putting in their tranny oil. But it must be Gold.

Toyota charges $72~ for V160 trans fluid for their Supra 6 speeds. But it only requires two..
Don't forget, this is a super car.

For $10usd, is it really the geniune GTR special transmission oil or whatever they call it? This oil costs $90/qt in the US, so I doubt it's the same stuff? Thanks.

labour fee is low at south east asia, but another hand mostly not so professional.some service still need the Nissan service center to use the proper special tools.like my first engine oil change, they even can't remove the front undercover cause the "special" clips or nuts.finally vacuum out the oil and the oil filter change drain parts of the oil to the udercover.........
anybody know how to open the front undercover clips?really need any special tools?

Just bought a case of tranny fluid...Paid $65.00 a quart. The Transmission takes about 10.5 quarts to fill. THATS $850.00 with tax

Can you give us more info? What exact brand is it and where did you get it? Do you plan on doing it yourself? Are there special clips to remove?
Keep us updated and possible even post a DIY section.
Cheers.

Out of Money
I bought the trans. oil from a Nissan Dealer in New Orleans. He said the list price was $115.00 a quart by he sold it to me for $65.00. Its Nissan R35 oil, I can't tell who makes it because there are no marking on bottles. I do plan on changing the transmission oil myself and I'll let you know how it goes.

Anyone have a thread handy that points out actual service cost for major services? I'll keep snooping around trying to find one too. Thanks.

Here is what I found online. You would take the hourly rate noted and multiply it by your dealership's hourly fee for GT-R service.

Thanks...that is pretty much just what I was hoping to see.
