Did Nissan put the run flats on the GTR because there is no room for a spare or do they (run flats) actually handle better? They sure have a lousy ride and weigh a ton.

yes they put it on it for the whole spare tire thing...its the law in Japan to have a spare tire, but this whole run flatt voids that law...
the tires are freaking heavy close to 40 punds each! YES 40lbs! They how ever handel pretty good, but better and lighter tires are out there on the market...but they are a bit $$...
I was planning on maybe shanging out the wheels, however their are lighter then most 20s out there! So the big wiegh savings and best deal for the $$ would be to change out the tires...can maybe save at least 40 pounds in tires alone...

What do you think are better? The Bridgestones or the Dunlops on the cold weather package? Out here on the west Coast, they are discouraging us from ordering the all season Dunlops and the cold weather package.

well depends on what you will do, the all season hold much better in the wet roads...either way the tires are still heavy...need to find small ways to drop off the punds on this car...
lighter and better intercooler, all CF front bumber, hood, trunck, spoiler, lighter wheels and tires...and the driver should go on a diet...lol

Ichiban,
I may be wrong but I think the stock/oem wheels are special and will only accept run flats. So we can't put normal tires on them>

Ichiban,
Sweet glad to hear it. The four different tires/tire companies you mention are all normal tires not Run flats?
Next question if we do put normal tires on what are you going to do if you get a flat?

Call AAA or keep a bottle of fix a flat in your car. But the fix a flat might trash your tire!!

Regarding non run flats I guess you could just keep some of the 24 hr mobile tire services that the truckers use on your cell phone and be prepared to pay up.

Joint the AAA premium road side service. One time the tranny on my Range Rover blew up on the freeway, they flatbed the car from Orange County to San DIego, didn't have to pay a dime for the service.Definitely worth it.

yeah AAA is good stuff, thank god for their international Drivers Liceance!
yeah the 4 companies are reg tires not run flatts...keepa sapre tire and wheel at home and call the wife or buddy to your location may be the cheapest route...
