For my first car I was thinking of getting an older skyline,
(1995-2002) I might tune it a little (500hp.max) and maybe take it out for a few races. But someone said I shouldn't get a Skyline cause the engine can't handle the extra power. I think this isn't true. What do you think?

great cars! the rb26 can handle more hp when you get above a certain point alot needs to be done to the engine to get more. and then stuff starts to break when it gets too high.

but engines have been able to handle 900+hp with alot of money and work put into it.

the chassis isnt as ridgid as say a 350z, thats why they made the new R35 usesing a simualr chassis of the 350z. problem was the weight utilizing awd etc. SO is it better to buy an older R33, R34 or buy an R35, or buy a 350z and modify the engine in some way for more power.

many differnt ways to look at this. the older skylines are definatly cool in many many respects!

are you in canada? i know im america many gtr's are not legal and getting exported like you wouldnt belive unless they have been through all the proper paperwork :( im not sure what the laws are elsewhere.

just be responsible...jesus...dont kill yourself or anyone else...i'm personally against people getting a car like that (500hp skyline) as their first car...just be responsible and keep any shenanigans on the track

in regards to your question the RB will be perfectly fine at 500

You should be fine on a R33 GTR build, the only motors with any sort of problems out of the R32s - R34s were the early model R32. They had an issue with the crank collars, but they fixed it in the late model R32s. (around the end of 93 or beginning of 94). The crank collar was shorter in the early models and high RPMs caused the crank to wear down the inside of the pump and spin freely from the pump = no oil being pump under high RPMs and lots of destruction. Jun and a company oout of Australia makes a crank spacer that add to the length of the crank collar fixing this problem. But unfortenately it has to be machined on.

The turbos also had ceramic bearings so the R32s were only only good (safely) for boost under 1 bar and the R33s at 1 bar.

The injectors are only 440ccs just they will need to be upgraded as soon as you upgrade turbos.

Ehh my first car was a 1991 TT Dodge Stealth (as you probably know its just a 3000 GT with dodge stickers on it). Never crashed it or did anything to others. But it depends from person to person. My friend who drives a scion XB has crashed alot with his car, mostly due to overestimating its capabilities.
