Having a Euro car background and an enthusiast in rebuilt motors and modifying several poplar Euro brands, like VWs, BMWs, Mercs and the most recent project, a smoking TechArt Porsche (which is now up for sale). These manufactures and their respectful dealership never had any issues with additional bolt on mods, like heaters and exhausts. They usually promoted ECU upgrades to add to the car's potential HP. As long as the work was done properly, the car’s warranty would not be affected.
The issue I have with Nissan is what the sales rep told me after I put the deposit for my new GTR...any mods to 2009 GTR will void all warranty, even if its an aero-dynamic aspect to the exterior.
Is this a load of s^#t? Do I have any other options? I already have email my rep to voice my concerns.
After joining this forum, it seems that most of you are either thinking of changing the HP potential or have already done so. I would appreciate any input you might have in sharing your viewpoint.
Also, I would like to hear from you all on what are the best mods for 2009 GTR.
I can’t wait to get my car to start building up this monster!!!

I have spent the last two weeks getting to know the dealerships in my local area, due to the fact one of these four dealers is going to earn my business for all those darn services I'll be forking out for...in talking to the GMs of each dealership, I have learned that the Nissan is very clear as to the warranty aspects to the vehicle, however each dealer has a slightly different viewpoint to how to handle the modifications which I am considering for my GT-R.
The last dealer I spoke to has already had two cars completely modified. The opinion he had was that as long as these guys don't go out racing their cars in an official class race with a pit crew and all, then they should be alright. In his own words, "Nissan build an unofficial racecar for street use, they want you to track the car." They just don't want the car modified to the point where the aero-dynamics is completely different than the original design. Of course changing the settings on your ECU or doing any engine work will completely void the engine warranty. This dealer is willing to look past an exhaust upgrade, however if the install is not done properly, then it can cause additional damage and this will void any aspect of your warranty related to those parts.
So…change your suspension around…well then…expect that your suspension is NO longer under warranty:eek:...change your rims and tires around…then those aspects to the car will no longer be under warranty:eek:...catch his drift!!!
With this new found knowledge and the support of my liberal dealership, I look forward in customizing my GT-R...SLIGHTLY...to the characteristics which I view will make her look a little bit more aggressive and hopefully sound a bit meaner than the average GT-R.

go and price some of these parts on this car and see if its worth voiding your warranty.

yeah You are right, but 600HP is not alot if you think about the average R34 has 600+ HP...lol ;)

Seeing as how the r34 has been around since 98, well there ya go :P and thats not the average r34 I would say average is about 450-500 to the ground or a solid ECU tune on an r35 :)
