There has been several reports saying that GT-R's rear can get pretty hot. LordeRyall on UK forum read though the US manual and find something interesting.

Under the GT-R specific info at the beginning of the manual it says

The GT-R has high exhaust gas temperatures. If
non-GT-R specification parts are used, it is
possible that the muffler will deform and cause
damage to the underbody. Also do not remove
the trunk carpet from the vehicle for any reason.
The carpet insulates the vehicle interior from the
heat of the muffler and from the noise of the
transmission.

Also in the same section there is this re: fuel

To maximize vehicle performance, the fuel tank is
located as low as possible to lower the vehicle
center of gravity. The tank is also divided into
two parts. This fuel tank design causes higher
pressures inside the tank than other vehicles so
fuel spillage is possible by trying to top off the
fuel tank after automatic shutoff.
REFUELING STOPS BEFORE THE
TANK IS FULL
The fuel tank pressure is higher when the vehicle
is hot. If the vehicle is refueled when the vehicle
is hot, the fuel pump may automatically shut off
before the tank is full. This does not indicate that
there is a malfunction. This will not happen after
the vehicle has cooled.
GASOLINE SMELL
The fuel temperature is higher when the vehicle
is hot. This may cause a gasoline smell from the
vehicle. This does not indicate that there is a
malfunction. The smell will go away when the
fuel temperature has cooled.

Look closely at that gold nice rear, umm, I mean Nismo GTR's rear.;) They are using heat wraps to protect the surroundings.

yes, the R35 gets very hot and if your going to do aftermarket muffler system it may get much hotter, so be carefull and choose carefully. muffler wrap may need to be used.

this is one hot car, a trans oil cooler is likly needed for extended track racing.

The interior is also hot......the cup holders get hot, and not to mention the rear seats and also the rear side panels.....I just took a couple of friends on a 3 hour trip......the one who sat at the back said it is like sitting on a heated seat at full power.

How hot do you mean. Hot to the touch ? or luke warm.

This is surprising to me as I am looking to avoid another car that gets uncomfortably hot inside.

Im sure it cant be anywhere near as hot as the viper. First mod, rip out all the catalytic convertors to cool down the underbody :)

im guessing a differnt aftermarket exaust design and or muffler wrap will help the heat... not to mention a transmission oil cooler to help keep temps lower.

not to mention cobb just mentioned they are using an additional engine oil cooler because 580hp was causing overheating issues.

The cabin does not get hot, its the trunk that gets hot. Dont want to put your eggs in there and drive a distance :)

The cabin does get hot. That's why they set the a/c to blow hard , even at it's lowest speed setting. Try the bottom of your cup holders (cup warmers), or the transmission tunnel. Back seats are also "heated"
If you don't turn on the a/c (on track days) the car really does get hot!

the back seats get mildly hot.

from the description of the edmunds article, looks like it was cooler on the floor, but im not so sure about that, because later on the driver put his bag in the front seat.

I once drove roundtrip to Phoenix from Los Angeles without AC. It was August. When I got back to LA, I put in AC.

The Nissan dealer warned me about this when I took delivery. However, I forgot. So,.... I put my salad in the trunk... It was in a plastic container. The thing was steamed salad when I took into my office.

i would like it if tuners/garages/e-tailers and members if they could measure before and after temps of the aftermarket exuasts they purchase.

is there anyway you guys at speed for sale could do this too?

I think everyone wants to reduce the heat any way. i know that aftermarket exuast wont remove anyones warrantee so thats the first thing to try and sofar there are alot of units out there, like that awesome 5zigen unit you guys just installed at speed for sale. i belive a dealer said something about the cats in the exaust are creating some heat, so mabe aftermarket will help elivate that, but other than that im assuming differnt designs will also dissapate heat better, like the 5zigen for one is design differntly than the mines exaust setup, which one battles heat better?
